The Watchdragon features McCaffrey and Pern-related news and updates from around
the web. The idea behind this site is to offer an up-to-date snapshot of
what is going on in the McCaffrey and Pern fandom community and an easy
way to check out the latest happenings and newest fan club additions with
just a few clicks.
The main means by which this site collects these news items is
via displaying syndicated web content:
- The McCaffrey News section
incorporates the latest updates from Anne and Todd McCaffrey's blogs.
- The Fandom News section offers a
shortcut to the newest items on the alt.fan.pern newsgroup.
- The Gathers section incorporates the
latest posts from the WeyrFest YahooGroup.
- The Club Plugs and Ads section
combines headlines to the most recent posts on several club promotion
mailing lists and forums.
- The pages in the Fan Works section contain lists of recent
fan fiction additions to FanFiction.Net C2 Communities,
LiveJournal Communities, and active play-by-email clubs with public
archives on YahooGroups.
The Watchdragon also offers its own newsfeed
in RSS 2.0 format to announce events and new additions to this site.
